Meet the new Love Islanders 2018

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Everyone’s favourite reality TV show Love Island is back, with the new series airing on ITV2.

One dramatic episode in and there's already people being 'muggy', 'salty' and 'extra', just some of the unique words you can expect to hear.

Here's everything you need to know about what went on in episode one.

Need a reminder of who’s heading to the luxury villa in Majorca, Spain? Then flick through the gallery below, which holds snippets of information on each of the eleven tanned, toned, and tattooed contestants.

This year’s Love Island will be the longest season of the show so far, this year’s 150,000 applicants being told they would need to be available for a minimum of ten weeks for the series.

Caroline Flack – who will once again be hosting – previously said this series will be the “longest yet”. Ian Sterling will also be returning as the voice of Love Island.

Some other tidbits of information: while unconfirmed, the contestants (many of whom leave their jobs or take extensive leave to be on the show) get paid a rumoured £200 a week for participating.

ITV2’s popular spin-off show Aftersun also returns this year, while the channel has also launched a podcast series named The Morning After.

Quick everyone while you have time, fill up your tea, wine, whatever you're drinking to get through this.

The bedroom has been revealed, and it is five double beds in a row.

The screaming from the women at the reveal is fairly understandable.

As the first night's party begins, we already have dissent in the ranks.

West End star, Samira, already doesn't fancy her match, A&E doctor Alex. She has her eyes on the extra-token-man, Adam.

What could possibly happen here...

What an interception! Wes interrupted the chat between Laura and Adam.

The awkwardness is eye-watering, but we can't stop watching...

First-time viewer, Sean O'Grady, is hanging in there, but he's still perplexed by the earlier six-pack parade...

"Can we have a campaign to bring back chest hair?"

Danni Dyer has admitted that her dad is...Danny Dyer.

Still no word from the cockney legend's Twitter account.
