From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

Frankie Edgar vs Jeremy Stephens

Next up, we've got a featherweight brawl between No 2 ranked Frankie Edgar and No 7 ranked Jeremy Stephens. Edgar comes into 205 off the back of a disappointing defeat by Jose Aldo at UFC 202 where he was completely outclassed by the interim featherweight champion, but with Aldo's future in doubt, you just don't know where the winner of this one could end up.

Frankie Edgar vs Jeremy Stephens

In true Edgar fashion, he runs into the ring and the New York resident - hailing from New Jersey - is here to  make a statement that he is capable of making another run at the featherweight title. We're ready to get underway.

Frankie Edgar vs Jeremy Stephens

Round 1: Stephens holds a notable size advantage over Edgar, although Edgar has the crowd behind him. Edgar goes for a takedown, but Stephens drops straight down on him and blocks it. A second attempt is also unsuccessful, and Stephens replies with a high knee that misses the target. Edgar goes for another takedown and this time grabs Stephens around the neck, delivers a knee and then lets go. Edgar finally gets the takedown as he lifts Stephens, and as soon as they stand up it hits the canvas again. Stephens breaks out of the clinch with a high knee to Edgar's head.

Hmm. Referee Keith Peterson halts the fight for an eye poke, and after the doctor comes in to check Edgar - even though he says he's fine - the fight gets back underway with a minute remaining. It was definitely accidental, by the way, so no blame on Stephens there.

Nothing much happens in the remainder of the round beyond a few wild shots, and that probably goes to Edgar for his work and takedowns.

Frankie Edgar vs Jeremy Stephens

Round 2: The fight is stopped again after Edgar catches Stephens with a low blow punch, and after a quick breather it resumes. Edgar is beginning to assert himself and gets two big takedowns, the second of which sees him take the back only for Stephens to get up. That was impressive from the New Jersey native. Woah! Stephens lands a brutal head kick that floors Edgar! he lands a knee on the way in too, and having never been knocked out, he's wobbling! Edgar's back on his feet, but he's shaky and Stephens smells blood. Two minutes to go, but Edgar's doing a good job here of giving hiimself space to catch his breath and find his senses. Edgar gets the takedown as Stephens comes onto him and locks in a gullotine attempt! Stephens fights out of it, and now Stephens has 30 seconds to survive.

What a fantastic round, both men throwing their all at each other! But Edgar so nearly got KO'd for the first time there.
