From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will go face to face for the third time this week on Thursday night, as their whistle-stop media tour arrives in New York City.

The NYC presser will be held at the Barclays Centre and is due to get underway at 11.30pm BST. We’ll be bringing you live coverage of the event from around 10pm.

Unsurprisingly, the press tour has been thrilling, controversial and surreal in equal measure.

Mayweather was widely judged to have got the better of McGregor at the first press conference in LA, but the Irishman more than got his own back in Toronto a night later, when he ridiculed the size of his adversary’s head and the fact he cannot read, before turning his fire on Showtime.

You can read the full transcript from the first press conference in Los Angeles HERE, and you can read the second transcript from Toronto HERE.

This is the penultimate event of the four-date press tour, with the final news conference due to be staged in London on Friday night.

"Point to the b****", Mayweather instructs his cronies assembled on stage. "Point to the quitter!"

The audio has mysteriously cleared up, too. Looks like Mayweather is making McGregor pay for his performance last night!

But he hasn't reckoned with the crowd, who are still loudly demanding for the American to pay his taxes.

And now Mayweather has just thrown a fistful of dollars over McGregor. "They're all ones!" is the lightning quick reply.

The crowd are struggling to hear, but they still sound as though they're having a good time.

That didn't take long to get nasty. Mayweather points in McGregor's face, and the Irishman is quickly dragged away by Dana White before he can retaliate.

That was ... terrible, to tell you the truth. An utter, utter mess. But it was a mess quite clearly won by Floyd Mayweather.

The quickly we can all forget about this mess, the better:

And so to London! This whistle-stop four date press tour concludes later today at the Wembley Arena, so make sure you join us then for coverage.
