From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will go face to face for the third time this week on Thursday night, as their whistle-stop media tour arrives in New York City.

The NYC presser will be held at the Barclays Centre and is due to get underway at 11.30pm BST. We’ll be bringing you live coverage of the event from around 10pm.

Unsurprisingly, the press tour has been thrilling, controversial and surreal in equal measure.

Mayweather was widely judged to have got the better of McGregor at the first press conference in LA, but the Irishman more than got his own back in Toronto a night later, when he ridiculed the size of his adversary’s head and the fact he cannot read, before turning his fire on Showtime.

You can read the full transcript from the first press conference in Los Angeles HERE, and you can read the second transcript from Toronto HERE.

This is the penultimate event of the four-date press tour, with the final news conference due to be staged in London on Friday night.

An update from the Barclays Centre.

And yet two very important people are yet to arrive.

Looks like a certain Mr Conor McGregor was to blame for the delay...

Now that is an outfit!

The Showtime stream above has started, and we are officially underway

Come on Floyd, some of us have early starts tomorrow mate.

Wow. Mayweather had a dig at McGregor's suit last night, so the Irishman has turned his outfit up to eleven! Full length white mink coat, with a snake embroidered down the back. Bold.

He swaggers onto the stage to the now familiar refrain of The Foggy Dew.

He gets to the stage and quite happily dances around, before taking off his coat and swaggering around shirtless.

Money Mayweather gets to the stage, dismissively lobs the Irish flag to the floor, and carries on dancing.

This feels like the opening 5 minutes of a big WWE event.

Okay, I've said this for the past two evenings now, but this one is definitely the weirdest. The two men aren't even remotely angry at one another, they're just impassively dancing in one another's personal space. Utterly surreal.

And now the face off! McGregor whips his coat off and he's looking big, probably the biggest we've ever seen him in his career. It's a very impassive face off with the minimum of talking or engagement between the two men. They're both behaving themselves so far.

Espinoza is drowned out by a chorus of boos. He keeps things short, and is quickly replaced at the stand by Dana White.

The jeers turn to cheers.

"FROM DUBLIN IRELAND, THE NOTORIOUS CONOR MCGREGOR!" he shouts. Poor bloke. He's practically puce.

And now time for McGregor!
