From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Juan Martin del Potro and Rafael Nadal go head to head on Centre Court in what is today's standout quarter-final.

After beating Gilles Simon 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 7-6 (7-5), Del Potro is making his first quarter-final appearance at SW19 since 2013.

Nadal, meanwhile, reached his first Wimbledon quarter-final since 2011 with a straight-set win over unseeded Czech Jiri Vesely.

Both men have struggled with injuries over the years but it is Nadal who heads into the clash as the favourite, having not yet dropped a set at the All England Club.

Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (8-7) Nadal*

Another two serves, another two failed returns from Nadal. DelPo has set point.

Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) Nadal

DelPo has it! He pushes Nadal out wide to the left to the point where he can't return. We've got a proper match on our hands now.

Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 1-0 Nadal*

DelPo quickly rushes to 40-0 but Nadal recovers with a scooped backhand near the base of the net that flies away from the Argentine. The world No 4 remains unperturbed, though, and after an exchange at the net volleys home the winning point to claim the first game.

*Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 1-1 Nadal

Nadal holds to love. An effortless game of tennis from the world No 1.

Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 1-2 Nadal*

The two are going through the motions at the moment. After the drama of the second set they've both settled into their respective games and looking comfortable. After some typically huge serves and baseline strokes, DelPo seals this game with a forehand winner that fizzes well beyond the reach of Nadal.

*Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 2-2 Nadal

Nadal levels the game at 15-15 after pumping a defensive forehand stroke down the throat of DelPo who lifts the ball high into the sky. The Spaniard duly delivers an overhead smash which the world No 4 almost returns on the forehand but he can't get it over the net. From there, Nadal sees out the game in style. 2-2 in this third set.

Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 2-3 Nadal*

131mph from DelPo on that first serve. Nadal had no chance. The Spaniard then falls foul of an unforced error on the backhand before another ace comes hurtling down towards the world No 1. 40-0. DelPo can't quite hold to love but he gets the job done with another ace.

*Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 3-3 Nadal

Another hold to love from Nadal. Ctrl-Alt-C.

Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 4-3 Nadal*

Wow. DelPo dazzles with some seriously quick reactions at the net to keep Nadal at bay. Twice the Spaniard tried to get past, twice the Argentine denied him. 40-15. Nadal wins the next point with an overhead smash but Del Potro sees out the game on his second serve. 4-3.

*Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (9-7) 4-4 Nadal

Nadal dinks the ball over from the baseline with a perfectly-weighted slice. Pure class from the Spaniard. 40-15. He holds with an overhead smash from the net.
