From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Juan Martin del Potro and Rafael Nadal go head to head on Centre Court in what is today's standout quarter-final.

After beating Gilles Simon 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 7-6 (7-5), Del Potro is making his first quarter-final appearance at SW19 since 2013.

Nadal, meanwhile, reached his first Wimbledon quarter-final since 2011 with a straight-set win over unseeded Czech Jiri Vesely.

Both men have struggled with injuries over the years but it is Nadal who heads into the clash as the favourite, having not yet dropped a set at the All England Club.

Del Potro 5-7 5-5 Nadal*

The Spaniard dazzles with a reaching forehand volley that dinks the ball up and over the net to take the game to 15-15. DelPo had no chance. After an ace from the Argentine, Nadal pushes his opponent further and further back with a ferocious barrage of shots to the point where the world No 4 lifts up a return in the hope of finding the back of the court. It's way off. 30-30. Nadal pushes on and finally gets the break with a forehand winner down the line. Fantastic stuff.

*Del Potro 5-7 5-6 Nadal

It takes a while for the Spaniard to get going but once he does DelPo finds himself unable to match the power and precision of the world No 1. At 30-30, Nadal delivers a monstrous ace - only his second of the match - before drilling the ball into the far-left corner with that pumping piston-like forehand of his. Hold.

Del Potro 5-7 6-6 Nadal*

DelPo takes the game to 40-30 with a powerful serve that sets him up for a simple volley from the net. Nadal has no chance of returning. The world No 4 subsequently nets the next point, taking the game to deuce, but a forehand winner from deep hands the Argentine advantage. He serves yet another ace to hold. Into tiebreak we go.

The Spaniard looks to have conceded another double-fault but, after challenging, Hawkeye reveals it to be in by the smallest of margins. Nadal holds from there for the point.

*Del Potro 5-7 6-6 (1-3) Nadal

DelPo's first serve is too much for the Spaniard but he gets the next point after the Argentine overhit a reaching forehand return. Two more unforced errors take the tiebreaker to 4-1 in Nadal's favour.

A collective gasp as Nadal double-faults at a critical juncture in this match. He had set point but nerves looked to have got the better of him.
