From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

After beating Gilles Simon 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 7-6 (7-5), Del Potro is making his first quarter-final appearance at SW19 since 2013.
Nadal, meanwhile, reached his first Wimbledon quarter-final since 2011 with a straight-set win over unseeded Czech Jiri Vesely.
Both men have struggled with injuries over the years but it is Nadal who heads into the clash as the favourite, having not yet dropped a set at the All England Club.

Del Potro 0-0 Nadal
The Spaniard serves first to get this match underway.
*Del Potro 0-1 Nadal
The Argentine made a strong start in taking the game to 30-0 but a firm volley at the net from Nadal, followed by a thumping forehand down the line to draw the error from Del Potro, restored parity. The Spaniard wrapped up proceedings with two impressive serves to hold.
Del Potro 1-1 Nadal*
Bosh. Del Potro fires down an ace at the first time of asking. Bosh. Another one. 30-0. No luck on his third attempt but after dropping a point with a long looping stroke that lands beyond the white line, he's at it again with another ace. Nadal nets on the final point to hand the Argentine the game.
*Del Potro 1-2 Nadal
Looks like we could be in for a long one here with both men hitting the ball consistently and sweetly on both their forehand and backhand. Nadal holds once again but he was certainly made to work for that game.
Del Potro 2-2 Nadal*
As mentioned, Nadal is being made to work - but it often brings out the best in him. Having fired across a huge forehand, Del Potro was quick to rush to the net in a bid to put his opponent off. But Nadal remained unfazed and returned a sublime reaching forehand that whizzed across the face of the Argentine, landing far to his right.
Del Potro equally impressed with an angled net-volley into space, taking the game to 40-30, but Nadal dug in to force the deuce. The world No 4 subsequently fired down an ace for advantage and then immediately draw an unforced error from the Spaniard on his following second serve.
*Del Potro 2-3 Nadal
Oosh. Nadal holds to love with some fantastic tennis that included a stinging forehand winner down the line that sealed the game. He's now hit six of them compared to Del Potro's one. The Spaniard is clearly in the mood.
Del Potro 3-3 Nadal*
Del Potro takes the game to 30-0 thanks to a forehand winner and a scooped backhand slice that lifted the ball up onto the net before it trickled over teasingly to leave Nadal stranded at the baseline. From there, two more thumping serves follow which the Spaniard is simply incapable of returning. We're 23 minutes in and still on serve.
*Del Potro 3-4 Nadal
A rare double fault from Nadal (his 10th of the Championships) puts Del Potro 15-0 up but the Argentine misplaces two simple shots, on both his forehand and backhand, to hand the Spaniard control. More mistakes from Del Potro follow and the world No 1 holds on for the game.
Del Potro 3-4 Nadal*
Del Potro returns the favour and immediately double faults on his first serve. An unforced error follows but the Argentine makes sure to take the next point, picking out the far left corner with a pinpoint forehand smash. He fails to capitalise, though, and once again finds the net on his forehand. 40-15. The Argentine gets his act together and over the course of a 17-shot rally pummels his opponent into submission until Nadal eventually returns wide on his forehand. One break point saved. A vicious first serve saves the second. Deuce.
