From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

40 mins: The klaxon has gone and the Hurricanes have a penalty... they're opting to go for the corner!
Half time: Great defence from the lineout sees the Lions drive back their hosts and win the penalty!
The sides trot in at half-time with a 16-point lead. Very entertaining half of rugby.
41 mins: TRY HURRICANES!
What a start from the hosts as Ngani Laumape flies over after a good break from Savea! Biggar takes a huge whack for his troubles of trying to take the centre out before he touched down. Barrett nails a tough kick and it's 23-14.
53 mins: Iain Henderson has shot over after more Lions pressure but we're going to the TMO... did he get it down?
NO TRY!
And Lawes is off as well. Gatland showing his hand for Saturday? Possibly.
54 mins: TRY LIONS!
Tommy Seymour touches down for his second of the game! It's a super pass from Biggar as he misses out two to find Nowell who shift the ball on to Seymour to touch down in the corner. Biggar misses the conversion - so he is human.
57 mins: Now Iain Henderson has also been withdrawn with Kruis on. Another sign from Gatland?
62 mins: Is that a try?
Halfpenny's kick is marvelously collected by North with a one-handed pick-up and he scores... but replays show his foot was on the line! That would have been a stunning try by North.
