From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

75 mins: The Hurricanes are going to win this here aren't they? They're camped inside the Lions' 22 at the moment...
76 mins: The Hurricanes are literally on the try line... and they knock it forward! Somehow the Lions have held out! And Henderson is back on. Great defence in the end by the Lions, but they still have a five-metre scrum to defend.
76 mins: It's actually a penalty to the Lions, not a scrum, after the TMO noticed some foul play. Biggar gets some territory and surely the Lions must work a drop-goal opportunity...
81 mins: Hang on, Biggar has turned it over here brilliantly! And the Lions are on the front foot. Biggar has dropped into the pocket! He's about 40 metres out and he goes for the drop goal... but the distance isn't there as he is charged at by four Hurricanes and the ball dribbles dead! FULL TIME: Hurricanes 31 Lions 31.
What a finish to that game! Did Henderson, who had such a good game up until his mindless spear tackle, cost the Lions here? It is more about performances for Warren Gatland tonight and who put their hands up for the Test shirt on Saturday.
