From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

72 mins: England attack down the blindside of the scrum through Care, Brown and Watson, but ireland do well to repel it ad force them back. Quick hands gives Nowell his first run but not much space to work with, and England aren't making progress. garces does them a favour though as he spots O'Mahony infringing in the ruck, and England get the penalty just inside the Irish half. As Farrll turns own the kick at goal to go for touch, a pitch invaders runs on behind him, applauding the crowd.
It's all very weird, but the important thing it Ireland steal the lineout! A huge call from England there.
75 mins: Ireland kick the ball away and Watson knocks on. Sexton punts downfield, but the touch judge spotted an Irish knock-on there too, so we'll come back for the Irish scrum on their own 10m.
76 mins: Care and Wood try to pressure McGrath, but Garces pings them for offside and Ireland have the penalty. Time is running out for England here. Tadhg Furlong comes off to a huge ovation, and John Ryan is on in the front-row.
78 mins: Sexton kicks over the line and to touch, and if England are going to win this, they need to go the length of the pitch. It's looking like Eddie Jones's first defeat and no Grand Slam...
80 mins: We're into the red on the clock and England have a scrum on their 22m line...
80 mins: Penalty to England and they tap it - they have no other option. They're up to the halfway line though. Surely not...
80 mins: Brown knocks the ball forwards!
IRELAND BEAT ENGLAND 13-9 AND DENY THEM THE GRAND SLAM!
