Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Where can I watch it?
The Cheltenham Festival will be shown live on ITV from 13:00. You can also follow the action with The Independent’s live blog here.
That was impressive stuff there, and Brian Cooper has his 2nd winner of this year's festival.
Another Ruby winner to come next? Here's how the main players in the Trull House Mares Novices' Hurdle shape:
Let's Dance was described by Rich Richie as his best bet this week. High praise from an owner boasting the likes of Douvan, Djakadam, Limini and Vroum Vroum Mag in his arsenal. She's improved with every run and with the Mullins/Walsh juggernaut firing, it'll be a brave person backing against her.
Mullins also has the second favourite in Arlie Beach. She showed her best form winning a Grade 1 at Fairyhouse against the boys and that makes gives her a great claim here for sure.
Of the others La Bague Au Roi, Toe The Line and Forge Power all hold good each way chances.
4.50 LATEST ODDS:
11-8 Let's Dance, 3-1 Airlie Beach, 10-1 Forge Meadow, 12 La Bague Au Roi, 14-1 Asthuria & Barra, 25-1 Others.
Airlie Beach takes them along, with stablemate Let's Dance is 3 from the back.
We've lost Toe The line now.
Not much change as get to two out. When will Let's dance make her move?
Here she comes! Wonderful stuff from Ruby and it was never in doubt as soon as Let's Dance hits the front!
