Playing with 10 men for most of the game, Brazil held the Ivory Coast to a 0-0 draw on Sunday in the group stage of the men’s Olympic football tournament.
Brazil are the defending Olympic champions after winning on home soil at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, but they were at a disadvantage early when Douglas Luiz, who plays for Aston Villa, was sent off in the 13th minute.
Ivory Coast midfielder Eboue Kouassi was sent off in the 79th. Both Luiz and Kouassi won’t be able to play in their teams’ final group matches.
The Brazilians won their Group D opener over Germany 4-2. Richarlison scored a hat trick.
Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie scored the winner in his team’s opening 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia.
Brazil captain Dani Alves, at 38, is the oldest player in the tournament, which features under-23 teams on the men’s side with coaches allowed to bring three older players.

Jones on her defeat
Team GB’s Jade Jones has failed to defend her taekwondo title earlier today after she was beaten by Olympic Refugee Team’s Kimia Alizadeh in the first round.
She has now said she buckled under expectation.
She told BBC Sport: “I just think I put too much pressure on myself. Coming out I felt scared and too much pressure and then the whole tournament has been so different to what I’m used to.
“Usually I have my whole family there so when I am scared when I come out it gives me that extra push to go for it so I got trapped in that fear mode today.”

Ivory Coast are throwing everything they have at Brazil but they still cannot find a way through.
The team are looking increasingly frustrated which is leading to more errors and fouls for Ivory Coast.

Chelsie Giles has won bronze in the 52kg judo competition - Britain’s first medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
She defeated Switzerland’s Fabienne Kocher with a leg sweep to drop her opponent on her back.

Richarlison went down in the box but no penalty has been given.
That was clever from the star who is trying to create something for his side who find themselves in a tricky situation.
