Despite their heavy defeat against England last weekend, Ireland have the chance to go top of the World Rugby rankings if they can beat Warren Gatland’s Wales side today – in what is the Kiwi coach’s final game in charge of the Welsh side in Cardiff.
Both sides have selected heavily-changed teams from their last outings, with a number of fringe players getting the chance to shine ahead of their final squad announcements next week. Follow the live updates below.

58 min - Wales 3-22 Ireland (Penalty try awarded to Ireland):
This is turning into a bit of a slog fest. The referee seems to have grown tired of Wales' penalties and after more illegal play at the scrum, awards the visitors a try. Carty converts.
60 min - Wales 3-22 Ireland: The hosts are finally in their opponents' 22. They're throwing everything they've got at the Irish, who, so far, are refusing to give an inch. It eventually gets whipped out to Jonah Holmes on the left flank. He's got plenty of space to charge into, as the Principality Stadium rises to its feet, but the Ireland defence is quick to close him down. Despite his best efforts, he can't find a way through and is smothered to bring Wales' hope of a try to a close.
64 min - Wales 10-22 Ireland (Owen Lane try, Rhys Patchell conversion):
At last, a try for the hosts! Wales' persistence paid off, with the ball quickly worked out to the right flank where Lane was on hand to receive. Beating his opposite man with some quick feet, he dived over for a try on his debut.
68 min - Wales 10-22 Ireland: The hosts come within inches of a second try! From a Welsh line-out deep in Ireland's 22, the home team move effortlessly into a rolling maul. Substitute Elliot Dee is at the back, guiding the way, before he spots his opening and leaps towards the white line. The visiting defence does enough to throw him off, though, as he fumbles the ball just short.
72 min - Wales 10-22 Ireland: Try for the visitors? Garry Ringrose crossed the white line after getting away from his man down on the right flank but the referee is having another look at it.
73 min - Wales 10-22 Ireland: No try! James Davies was caught in the air by a careless Bundee Aki tackle, spilling the ball into the path of Garry Ringrose. From there, the Irishman was away to touch down for a try - only for the referee to rule out after reviewing the footage. That should have been some sort of card for Aki but the centre has avoided any form of punishment.
76 min - Wales 17-22 Ireland (Rhys Patchell try, Patchell conversion):
From a Welsh scrum under the Irish posts, the hosts slowly but surely worked their opponents backwards, moving the ball ever so slightly from left to right. After a pick-and-go, it was Patchell who was on hand to receive the second ball, staying close to the deck as he barged his way past a bundle of green shirts. The fly-half makes the conversion as well. That should be his spot on the plane to Japan secured.
