From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Shane Lowry delivered an Open Championship masterclass as he broke the course record at Royal Portrush with an eight-under-par 63 to take a four-shot lead into Sunday's final round.
The weekend may be without Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy after they both missed the cut, but Saturday did not go without it's drama. Irishman Lowry has brought the fans to life with a truly brilliant round, and after starting the day on eight-under-par, he recorded a bogey-free round of 63 that featured eight birdies to lead Tommy Fleetwood by four shots.
Brooks Koepka moved himself up to fourth place alongside Justin Rose and just behindJB Holmes, but Lowry's brilliance means they already find themselvesa long way off the lead at the start of Sunday's play. The R&A Has also announced that Sunday's tee times have been moved forward due to the threat of bad weather. Follow the latest updates below.

EAGLE! Tom Lewis...my word. The Brit made par on the first then came through the second in three shots to take him to -1. A brilliant second shot set him up with a very straightforward putt to secure the day's first eagle. This is a very strong start.
Everyone's making the most of this glorious morning sunshine on the northern coast. The television cameras have sporting a game of hurling on the sand beach alongside the course. Lovely stuff.
Paul Casey (E) is away and gives himself a nice chance with kicking things off with a birdie on the first.
Meanwhile, Ryan Fox (E) is out of the positive scores after a birdie on the second having made par on the first.
And our man of the moment Tom Lewis (E) has followed up his eagle by getting a bogey on the third. Gutted.
Molinari (+2) finds himself on the side of a steep bank in the rough and might be looking at his first bogey after a less-than-ideal approach. Watch this space...bogey! The Italian gave himself too much to do on his approach to the green and has to putt it in two. He falls to two-over.
Watson (+1) makes on the seventh and almost strops on.
So close! Paul Casey is a whisker away from a birdie on the first, just a few widths of grass to the right from around 15 yards.
Kyle Stanley takes himself to one-under overall after beginning his round with a birdie.
2010 Champion Golfer of the Year Louis Oosthuizen knows his way around a golf course and the high notes
Early starters can make a charge
Tom Kershaw at Royal Portush: It’s a sunny morning with only a light breeze here in Portrush; perfect conditions for one of the day’s early starters to make an early charge. Kyle Stanley birdies the first to move to one-under but it’s not going to be Bubba Watson whose bogey on 8 pulls him back to +2
