The French came through an epic thriller against Argentina in their opening match, with Les Bleus now favourite to join England in qualifying for the quarter-finals.
But first they must overcome the challenge posed by Gary Gold’s USA side, who were thumped 45-7 in their opener against Eddie Jones’ men last week. Follow live updates below:
When is is?
France vs USA kicks off at 4.45pm Japan Standard Time, which is 8.45am BST, on Wednesday 2 October.

ITV4 will be broadcasting the match, with coverage starting at 8.15am BST.

A half rather lacking in quality, that. It's a sticky sort of day in Fukuoka, and the pre-match rain has greased the ball, leading to plenty of inaccuracy. The untidy nature of the game has not been aided by a surface that seems ready to open into chasms every time a stud so much as slides over it. This hasn't been fantastic.
There have been two moments of quality, both from the left boot of Camille Lopez. First the Clermont fly-half's little stab over the top teed up Yoann Huget for a score, then he found club teammate Alivereti Raka in stride with a delightful crossfield kick to take France to the 12 points they've gathered in the first half. Other than that, he and Maxime Machenaud have largely failed to get a backline that looks capable of roaring to even purr, and the USA have defended well.
The USA haven't offered a huge amount in attack, but did force French captain Louis Picamoles to drag down a maul close to his own line. Off to the bin he trotted, but the USA couldn't capitalise with a try of their own, and had to settle for two penalties.
Referee Ben O'Keeffe has been rather whistle-happy - nine in that first half, with eight against France. That hasn't helped the quality of the game.

France into their attacking work early, and going through the phases quite well to begin the half. Sofiane Guitoune nearly slithers through a hole, and when the movement stalls Ben O'Keeffe whistles for a penalty.
France kick into the corner. Captain Guilhem Guirado is on and will thrown the lineout...

Brilliant from the USA!
Somehow Joe Taufete'e wriggles his way into the middle of the French maul and rips the ball away from the carrier. Turnover, USA ball, and they pump a clearance away.

Emerick Setiano has produced a couple of fun charges today, and the mobile front-rower puts the salsa on and powers his way through the tackle of Hanco Germishuys.
But he is then the man to concede a penalty as Louis Pcamoles goes close, off his feet to prevent a turnover. USA clear.

That's Setiano's final act, too - he and Cyril Baille are off as France swap their props. Jefferson Poirot and Rabah Slimani come on.

A couple of handling errors as France try to open up their game. Gael Fickou dummies and goes on with Alivereti Raka screaming for the ball with chalk on his boots, and Fickou's offload is knocked forwards. More ambition from France, but the execution is still lacking.
