The French came through an epic thriller against Argentina in their opening match, with Les Bleus now favourite to join England in qualifying for the quarter-finals.
But first they must overcome the challenge posed by Gary Gold’s USA side, who were thumped 45-7 in their opener against Eddie Jones’ men last week. Follow live updates below:
When is is?
France vs USA kicks off at 4.45pm Japan Standard Time, which is 8.45am BST, on Wednesday 2 October.

That's good from the USA. A loose kick from France finds Blaine Scully and he launches a counter, but the support is lacking for the next phase, meaning AJ MacGinty drops the ball to his toe and pushes it into the left corner. The chase is a good one, and Alivereti Raka is held up.
The Eagles will have a scrum less than ten metres out.

Powerful scrum from Eric Fry, and the USA launch Martin Iosefo off the blindside wing, charging into the French inside defence and getting his body over the gainline. Here come the forward carriers, picking and going from the base of the ruck, and it's a penalty advantage.
A pass goes astray, and AJ MacGinty's attempt to pass the ball soccer-style to Iosefo on the wing does not work.

France's restart doesn't go ten metres, which means a USA scrum on halfway. But they don't hook the ball! Free kick France, and Maxime Machenaud taps and goes!
To little avail - the USA get their hands on his rather hopefully flung wide pass. Just knocked on, though. France scrum.

There has been some pretty shoddy handling so far in this game, but this takes the cake. Sofiane Guitoune looks to laser a flat spin pass out to Alivereti Raka with a semblance of space but fires it about five yards short of his wing, who looks a little bemused as the ball skids past him into touch.

The USA have stood up much better to the French physical challenge than they did against England. Louis Picamoles threatens to make a break but is emphatically hauled back, and Tony Lamborn gets over the ball at the ruck to win a holding on penalty. Excellent jackaling work from the experienced flanker.

Anything you can do and all that. Louis Picamoles wins a penalty of his own as he scavenges at a breakdown. An underrrated part of the big number eight's game. Sealing off the call, with the supporting USA player going off his feet to try and prevent Picamoles stealing the ball.

More turnovers than your average bakery at the moment. Cam Dolan the latest to limpet over the top and earn the USA the penalty.

AJ MacGinty has a little dart back towards the teeth of the French fringe defence as the centres blitz up, two good left-foot steps getting him through a couple of tackles, but his offload fails to go to hand, and France are content to take us to the half with lead intact.
