After misadventures against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, England ran aground when chasing for the third time in the tournament, dismissed for an error-strewn 221.
With India and New Zealand still to play, there is now minimal leeway if the world's number one side are to reach the semi-finals of their own competition.
That's an utter waste of a review. It's outside the line, he's miles down the pitch, the ball is almost certainly bouncing over the top and Alex Carey had no interest behind the stumps.

Suicidal running from Buttler and Stokes and the former's dive was not even close to saving it had Smith's toss found a wooden home. Six inches or so out of his crease as the ball passes a couple of centimetres over the bails.

Stokes brings up the England 100 with a crisp sweep to the boundary as Lyon slides one a touch straight, but there's concern for the left-hander. He's grimacing as he plays it and clearly ginger as he trots through for a single to complete a five run over.

Up comes the 50 partnership for the fifth wicket as Stokes turns another single into the leg-side. Australia seem to be straying on to his pads a touch too often and allowing him to keep ticking on.
Stoinis is mixing things up, using subtler variations of speed to try and catch the English pair of guard. He squirms one beneath the toe of Buttler's bat as he looks to drive down the ground to close another tidy one.
24.1 - England 109-4, B Stokes 49, J Buttler 16, N Lyon 0-23 (4.1)
Aerially chipped, and that's somehow raced away for four!
Beaten by the drift and turn, Stokes goes through with an uppish drive nonetheless and just about gets it over a leaping Lyon, while Aaron Finch trotting across from mid-on seems to run right past it, and can't hurry back to claw the ball from the boundary.
