Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Re-live all the action live from the Cricket World Cup as the West Indies thrashed Pakistan in match two at Trent Bridge.

England got the tournament off to a flying start on Thursday – literally in the case of Ben Stokes’ acrobatic catch – as the hosts defeated South Africa, butFriday's encounter failed to live up to its billing as Pakistan slumped to a dismal 11th straight ODI defeat..

Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Oshane Thomas ripped through the Pakistan batting order, with Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam top-scoring with just 22 runs each as they posted 105 all-out, before Chris Gayle's half-century led the West Indies to an easy victory after losing only three wickets in 13.4 overs. Follow the live updates below.

What time does it start?

West Indies vs Pakistan begins at 10:30am on Friday 31 May.

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Cricket from 10am.

2. West Indies 12-0 Gayle 9 Hope 2

A quiet start from the Windies, though the fireworks could go off at any time.

Gayle clipping Hassan for four, looping over the wicket keeper to get things moving.

And a whipping slice through mid off makes it back-to-back boundaries.

4. West Indies 32/0 Gayle 24 Hope 7

Gayle Force Winds!

Back-to-back sixes for the big man!

Little movement with the feet, but it matters little, brute force from Gayle to get things moving.

6. West Indies 46/1 Gayle 33 Bravo 0

WICKET!

Hope is gone! He slices one horribly off Amir's bowling and Hafeez gleefully gathers the looping mishit.

Pakistan celebrate in the stands despite the lack of meaning in relation to the outcome.

7. West Indies 48/2 Gayle 33 Pooran 1

WICKET!

Bravo is gone too, Amir having a lovely time out there.

Nicked to second slip, this is a tidy spell.

11. West Indies 77-3 Gayle 50 Pooran 11

WICKET!

Was he bored, a big old heave and Amir gets a third, the ball eventually comes down for Shadab to take comfortably.

West Indies beat Pakistan by seven wickets

A fine performance from the Windies, who were far too good for Pakistan.

Oshane Thomas confirms his star status, but the possible injury of Andre Russell is the only dampener to an otherwise perfect start for the Windies in England.

Here, we hand out player ratings from Trent Bridge.
