From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The 2018 Ryder Cup is underway and what a turnaround we've seen. The United States took the early lead with a dominant display in the morning but Europe bounced back in the afternoon foursomes.
The visitors at Le Golf National led 3-1 after the morning fourballs after Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson all impressed on their way to victories over their European foes. But the hosts came roaring back in the afternoon taking all four matches to completely swing the contest and seize the momentum heading into Saturday
Here's how it all unfolded:

Who's going to win?

Europe 5/4
Draw 11/1
Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter (2UP) vs Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson
McIlroy has a great chance to birdie on eleven after a brilliant draw into the hole by Ian Poulter whose iron play has been superb this afternoon.
Like we've seen so often this year Rory's putter lets him down but Watson misses his too and all Poulter has to do is tap it in. The cushion returns.
Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren (6UP) vs Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau
I think Alex Noren was subconsciously showing his heart there with that tee-shot. Even Mickelson and DeChambeau can't mess this one up after the Swede went swimming and they have one back.
Justin Rose & Henrik Stenson (3UP) vs Dustin Johnson & Rickie Fowler
This is a brilliant putt from Johnson. There's a lot of work to do but he reads the right-to-left slope perfectly for a birdie at thirteen and the Americans have now won too on the bounce.
Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter (2UP) vs Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson
Poulter loses his iron right off the tee and the ball somehow stays on the bank just a foot shy of the water. Simpson has already hit it to about 20ft so the pressure is on but McIlroy produces a spectacular shot off the downslope to get inside him. No way that happened this morning.
Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter (3UP) vs Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson
Here it is. One of the very best today and Poulter rolls in the birdie putt! They're three up now and the noise following them from the green is deafening .
Justin Rose & Henrik Stenson (3UP) vs Dustin Johnson & Rickie Fowler
Henrik Stenson hits a great chip to within gimme range at fourteen after Rose's second sailed over the back at the long par-5. Fowler's third still has some legs on it but Johnson rolls it home to keep it to three. Only four left to play in this one.
Here's another look at that brilliant putt from Poulter to follow up McIlroy's magic
Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren (6UP) vs Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau
DeChambeau spits on the floor after fluffing a greenside flop shot - he needed Phil for that one. The Americans had clawed it back to five but they're now dormie-six heading to the thirteenth.
