From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Sweden and Switzerland face off on Tuesday with the prospect on an unlikely quarter-final place and a potential meeting with England.
Sweden were the shock winners of Group F, which saw Germany finish bottom in an enthralling final round of fixtures.
Switzerland on the other hand saw off the challenge of Serbia to make sure they went through behind tournament favourites Brazil.

Where can I watch it?
The game will be shown live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with coverage starting from 2.30pm BST.
Odds:
Sweden: 2/1
Switzerland: 7/4
Draw after 90 minutes: 2/1
Prediction:
Sweden 2-1 Switzerland. It will be a close game between the two and despite Switzerland being the higher-ranked side, Sweden’s performances so far look like they could be enough to guide them through. Just.
7 mins: Robin Olsen collects from a tame effort at goal, before Berg slices a shot miles clear of the goal when in a good position
10 mins: Some less than convincing defending from Switzerland, particularly playing out from the back from Yann Sommer
Our man in St Petersburg, Gerry Cox shows us the lack of fans for this one. Perhaps like us they are waiting with baited breath for game two of the day?
14 mins: Shaqiri puts in a dangerous ball from the Swiss right flank, which goes just over the heads of a number of players in the box. Shaqiri has made a bright start
17 mins: 'This is nearly a good game' a pretty accurate summation of the game so far from Mark Lawrenson
20 mins: Anyone following our text commentary but not watching the game, here's a representation of the Swiss defence...
23 mins: Behrami fouls Forsberg as Sweden break forward, another free kick opportunity and Marcus Berg heads down to an empty box. Where were the Sweden attackers gambling on that one?
29 mins: Sommer SAVE! Berg volleys a strike into the ground, but Sommer at full stretch pushes it away
You know it hasn't been an earth-shattering game when we start analysing the referee's boots (which by the way are really nice)
