Peru have not qualified to the World Cup in 32 years, but finally booked a spot for Russia after a 2-0 victory over New Zealand in the second leg of their play-off.
However, their preparation has been badly disrupted by captain Paolo Guerrero's failed drugs test, and while he is available for their World Cup opener against Denmark, his availability has not gone without its controversy.
The Danes will clearly hope to take advantage of this, with Age Hareide's squad looking to make a comeback after their failed attempt to propel themselves out of their group back in 2010.
Kep player Christian Eriksen is also in good form after scoring a hat-trick against the Republic of Ireland in the play-offs.

25 mins: Denmark force two corners in succession that offer Eriksen the chance to deliver dead balls from the right. Both are admirably dealt with by the head of the Peruvian captain, Alberto Rodriguez.
27 mins: This time it's the Danes who fancy their chances from an unrealistic distance. Dispossessing his man 40 yards from goal, Thomas Delaney drives forward a couple of paces before sending a thumping left-footed effort over Pedro Gallese's crossbar.
29 mins: Excellent intervention from the captain of Denmark, Simon Kjaer. The Sevilla centre-back threw himself into the path of Farfan's goalbound shot to divert the ball behind for a corner. That's what you call leading by example.
32 mins: Former Fulham and Wigan midfield plodder, William Kvist, is down and receiving treatment after taking a hefty thwack in the ribs from Farfan's knee. The 33-year-old might not recover from such a hefty, albeit accidental, challenge.
35 mins: Kvist is unable to continue, and sadly departs proceedings on a stretcher. On in his place comes Ajax's Lasse Schone.
38 mins: The first yellow card of the game is shown to Renato Tapia after the Feyenoord man upended Sisto on the edge of the Peru penalty area. It was the first time this evening that the forward had taken the chance to run at his opposing defence.
39 mins: The free-kick, described as being in Cristiano Ronaldo range, is curled into the wall by Eriksen, but the follow-up from substitute Schone powers into the direction of Gallese. The Peruvian stopper needs two attempts to bring the ball under control.
42 mins: The stoppage that allowed Kvist's treatment seems to have thrown the Peruvians off their stride. Their play since the restart has been uncertain and ponderous, and it is certainly Denmark who are finishing the half on top.
44 mins: And bang on cue, Peru produce their best passage of passing that takes them inside the Danish box. Christian Cueva goes down under Yussuf Poulsen's challenge after cutting back inside the defender, and there are huge shouts for a penalty! The referee waves away the protests and the game continues but the video officials have got involved and it's going to go to VAR!
45 mins: PENALTY TO PERU!
After consulting the monitors on the side of the pitch, referee Bakary Gassama overturns his original decision and points to the penalty spot.
