Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.England are back in the game that no one wants to be involved in as they take on Belgium for the accolade of finishing third at the World Cup, which should they win would be their best finish at the tournament since winning it in 1966.
It will be the second time the two teams have played after meeting in the final round of group stage fixtures, where Belgium ran out 1-0 winners to secure top spot in Group G.
Adnan Januzaj scored the only goal of the game there – that may actually have cost Belgium a World Cup final spot given their tougher route – but he doesn't get a second chance to shine as Belgium named their strongest team possible in St Petersburg, with England in contract making numerous changes..

Prediction
Who cares? Really, who actually remembers who was in the last third-place play-off, let alone who won it? No one wants to play in it and even fewer want to watch it. But, 2-0 Belgium.
Odds
Belgium: 6/5
England: 12/5
Draw: 14/5
It's a very strong Belgium line-up as they look to finish on a high, and that supremely talented front three will take on an English defence without Kyle Walker, who is replaced by Phil Jones and Ashley Young, replaced by Danny Rose.
Fabian Delph and Eric Dier are in through the middle for England as Jordan Henderson gets a well earned rest, with Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli's youthful energy replaced with an equally exciting talent in Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
For the last time in this World Cup, the England players take a stroll on the pitch before a game.

Here's Jack Austin's World Cup ratings of the Three Lions squad to get you in the mood for this one.
How important could these three be on the way to deciding who goes home with a bronze medal?
FIFA having a great build up to this one in graphic form. Here's another beauty focusing on the race for the Golden Boot
20 minutes to go until England kick off in their last game of the World Cup 2018. We feel a lot like the lads after going out to Croatia.
Gareth Southgate speaking to ITV pre-match:
"The day after the semi-final, it was my responsibility as leader of the group to pick them up. But then the fun was back in training yesterday and they know they have come a long way and want to finish well.
"Belgium are one of the best teams in the world and have world class players, they are fantastic and their mentality will be the same as ours.
"A medal would be lovely for the players and staff knowing they have really achieved something special. People will look at the route to this stage but I am not sure anyone in our country thought we would have played seven matches and got to game 63, we wanted to get to game 64.
"Game 63 might be at the side of my desk for the next few years."
