From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Nigeria have qualified for five of the last six World Cups, so they are no stranger to competition. However, going against Croatia with players who are playing their first ever World Cup might be tricky.
Despite Croatia squeezing through the playoffs, head coach Zlatko Dalic has some impressive players on his roster, including Real Madrid's Luca Modric.
But Nigeria's 4-0 victory over Cameroon gave them the boost they needed, and with that spirit and a squad counting Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho, the Super Eagles could surprise us all.

Prediction
Croatia 1-1 Nigeria. Both teams have brilliant attacking players so the game is bound to be a cracker.
But who do you think will win? Let us know by voting above.
34 mins: Nigeria nearly force an immediate equaliser but Ighalo's run and drive was blocked by Domagoj Vida.
39 mins: Almost a second for Croatia as Andrej Kramaric meets Rakitic's cross from deep with an expert looping header that beats Uzoho but nestles on the top of the net. You feel Nigeria need to get in at half-time just the one goal behind.
42 mins: Croatia register another attempt if we can be generous enough to call it as such. Good build-up play sees a pass slipped into the path of rampaging right-back, Sime Vrsaljko, who slices his shot wildly wide of the target.
45 mins: Victor Moses sends a free-kick into the penalty area that is only half cleared to the edge of the box. Arriving there was Alex Iwobi, who meets the ball with a powerful drive that one player from a crowded Croatia defence manages to block.
Meanwhile, the board goes up for two minutes stoppage time.
ITV pundit Roy Keane is incensed by Nigeria's decision to have their pre-match huddle at half-time.
SECOND HALF KICK-OFF: Croatia get us going for the second period. The experts have put the boot into Nigeria during the break, but what will their German coach Gernot Rohr have said to his team at half-time. Will the Super Eagles show they can soar in Russia?
