From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Lions came close to adding to the 1-0 advantage given to them by Wallace's early goal on a number of occasions in the second half but failed to beat Dons goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for a second time.
Millwall join Watford and Brighton in Monday night's quarter-final draw.

Brighton 0-0 Derby
6 minutes
Derby have enjoyed plenty of possession in the early stages, although they've done little with it. They've settled well, though, and look untroubled at the back so far.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
7 minutes
Bissouma drives forward from midfield and makes his way into the box. He goes down under a challenge but the referee ignores his appeals for a penalty.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
12 minutes
Locadia goes down under a challenge from Malone on the edge of the box, but the referee appears to ignore the challenge. Derby's defender then picks the ball up, clearly assuming that he had been penalised, and a free kick is awarded.
Knockaert takes the set piece and draws the first save of the game from Roos, who tips the curling shot over.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
16 minutes
Brighton are putting the visitors under some pressure for the first time, penning them back in their own half. Jahanbakhsh puts a dangerous cross in from the right, which is headed out to Stephens on the edge of the box. His shot is blocked easily, though, and Derby clear.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
18 minutes
Derby have their first shot of the game, but it's not Nugent's finest effort. A long ball is played up to Waghorn, who knocks it back to the former Leicester striker. He drags his long range shot well wide of the far post.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
21 minutes
Derby defender Tomori is the first player to go into the book for a late challenge on Locadia. The forward has picked up a knock from the challenge, too, and there's a pause in play as he receives some treatment from the physio.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
23 minutes
Bissouma goes for goal from the free kick, hitting it low beneath the wall. He doesn't catch it well, though, and Roos stretches to his left to make the save.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
26 minutes
Huddlestone is robbed of the ball in midfield and Brighton break through Knockaert. The ball finds its way to Bissouma, who has time and space, but he slices a shot over the bar. It's another poor effort in a game of little quality so far.
Brighton 0-0 Derby
28 minutes
Wilson picks up a yellow card for a high foot, and the challenge brings about the day's first use of VAR. The officials wanted to check whether it might have been worthy of a red card, but Wilson escapes with just a booking.
