From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Championship Millwall are through to the FA Cup quarter-finals after beating League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon 1-0.

The Lions came close to adding to the 1-0 advantage given to them by Wallace's early goal on a number of occasions in the second half but failed to beat Dons goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for a second time.

Millwall join Watford and Brighton in Monday night's quarter-final draw.

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall

Leonard has a go from outside the box and his shot deflects just wide for a corner. The set piece is poor and Wimbledon remain just a goal down.

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall

87 minutes

Wallace bursts forward from midfield and knocks the ball into the box. Ramsdale, who has impressed today, is out quickly to save at his feet. Wimbledon will have their goalkeeper to thank if they find a late equaliser.

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall

87 minutes

McDonald puts an excellent cross into the Millwall box from the left and it's met by Connolly at the back post. He mishits his shot and it balloons over the bar.

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall

Wordsworth rises highest from a corner and guides a header towards goal. It's too high, though, and Archer watches it over the bar.

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall

90 minutes

Wimbledon have had opportunites, but they've lacked composure in the final third. The ball drops to Wordsworth in the box and he curls a left footed shot well wide of the far corner. Time is quickly running out for the League One side.

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall

90+1 minutes

Millwall break from a Wimbledon set piece and Gregory plays Wallace through on goal. Pinnock, with fresher legs as a second half substitue, is quick enough to get back and make a crucial tackle.

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall

90+3 minutes

Millwall make a final change in an attempt to waste some time: Gregory is off for Hutchinson.

Full time: That's it! Millwall hold on and progress to the quarter finals of the FA Cup. It wasn't pretty, and often it was difficult to see which of the two teams was the Championship side. But the visitors won't care. Wallace's early goal gave them something to defend and they did so resolutely for the remainder of the game. Wimbledon deserve credit, too, despite just falling short today.

Next up: Newport vs Manchester City. Can the League Two side pull off what would be one of the biggest FA Cup shocks in the competition's long history. They're up against one of the best teams English football has ever seen, but there's something about Rodney Parade.

Newport have already beaten Leicester and Middlesbrough there this season. This is another step up, though, and Pep Guardiola will not allow any complacency amongst his players.
