West Ham 3-2 Nottingham Forest: Tomas Soucek’s late goal earned the Hammers all three points
West Ham earned a crucial three points in their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest to end a run of three straight league defeats.
David Moyes’ side started the match in fine fashion as Lucas Paqueta slotted home to send them ahead three minutes into the game but Forest responded well through Taiwo Awoniyi’s first half equaliser.
The game threatened to spiral away from the Hammers as Anthony Elanga sent Forest ahead just after the hour mark but Jarrod Bowen levelled the game with a fine header two minutes later.
The deciding goal came two minutes from the end as Tomas Soucek turned the ball into the back of the net and secured the win for West Ham.

West Ham looked in control after scoring after three minutes but struggled to create noteworthy opportunities. They only accumulated an expected goals (xG) of 0.35 compared to Forest's 1.12 and were forced to keep possession outside the opposition's box. Bowen usually plays on the wing but has struggled up front, only having five touches in the half. As for Forest, they have been bright in spells and deserved their equaliser. Elanga was one of their best players and constantly looked to beat Coufal on the left, with the right-back having to be careful after being shown a yellow card.

Awoniyi scored just before half-time to send West Ham and Forest level going into the break. The Hammers were the better side in the opening exchanges and scored inside three minutes. Paqueta made the most of a poor pass from Dominguez and drilled his low shot into the bottom corner. Awoniyi thought he netted the equaliser later on, but his header was saved excellently by Areola. Paqueta had a shot saved, and Alvarez missed the target with an ambitious effort before Forest were level. Gibbs-White got the better of Emerson down the right and had a low shot across the goal pushed away by the goalkeeper. However, Awoniyi was there for the rebound and had a simple finish.
