The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

West Ham appear to have moved to a narrow diamond in midfield since the break. They will surely be hoping to get Ward-Prowse more involved in open play after he struggled out on the left in the first half.

Moyes should be pleased with how his side ended the first half but they will need to keep that level up for the entirety of the second half. In particular, the Hammers were very sloppy in midfield and often found themselves caught out by Bournemouth's press.

West Ham trail 1-0 at the break against Bournemouth after Dominic Solanke notched up his 13th goal of the Premier League season. The Cherries striker has been in fine form this season and took just three minutes to add to his tally at the London Stadium, firing home after debutant Kalvin Phillips was caught in possession. The away side should really be two goals to the good but for Alphone Areaol's smart save to deny Antoine Semenyo's well-struck effort. West Ham grew into the game as the half wore on but they still have plenty of work to do after the break to pull this one back.
