From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. The Premier League‘s January transfer window is well underway with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all set to be busy.

It was the Blues whose transfer dealings stole the headlines on Friday as Cesc Fabregas’ long-awaited move to Monaco was finally completed. The Spanish midfielder, who made 501 appearances in England football winning two Premier League titles and two FA Cups, joins Thierry Henry’s struggling French side on a three-and-a-half year contract.

However, before the move was confirmed, it was Maurizio Sarri who stole the limelight after the Chelsea manager took aim at Bayern Munich over their approach for 18-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi. Sarri claimed the German champions have shown no respect for Chelsea after Munich’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, stated publicly that he “really wants to sign” the English starlet.

Over to Arsenal where Aaron Ramsey is said to have agreed his next move.

The Welsh international is out of contract in the summer and with no new deal forthcoming is free to talk to foreign clubs.

One of those is Juventus who, according to reports in Italy, have persuaded Ramsey to sign a pre-contract agreement with them.

He'll join for nothing on July 1 as the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG and Real Madrid miss out.

To Liverpool where the league leaders are in the midst of something of an injury crisis. Virgil van Dijk is the Reds' only fit centre back after Dejan Lovren's injury at Wolves on Monday.

And The Sun report that Jurgen Klopp is considering a loan move for Burnley's James Tarkowski as cover.

The Clarets, however, have slapped a £50m price tag on him.

Chelsea are continuing to keep track of Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, the Daily Mirror reports.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich is said to be taking a vested interest in a possible £100million move for the Argentine.

Ander Herrera appears set to sign a new deal at Manchester United, The Sun claims.

Despite interest from former club Athletic Bilbao, the 29-year-old is ready to commit himself to United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted he had a future with them.

Bayern Munich are still confident of signing Callum Hudson-Odoi despite Chelsea's insistence that they will hold on to the England youth international.

The Bundesliga giants most recently submitted an offer of £30m to sign the teenager, who is out of contract in the summer and looking for assurances over first-team minutes.

Hudson-Odoi is understood to initially have needed some convincing over a move to Germany but has been impressed by Bayern's commitment to trying to bring him to the Allianz Arena.

Real Madrid have made initial steps to prise Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and are preparing what they hope will be a £100m deal.

The struggling European champions are planning a necessary overhaul of their squad this summer, and want one of Eriksen or Chelsea’s Eden Hazard to be their new playmaker, but the Dane is seen as more gettable.

While the contracts of both are up in 2020, Spurs’ way of doing business means they are seen by Madrid as likelier to sell for a fee in the last year.

Barcelona had previously been hugely interested in Eriksen, and saw him as an alternative to Philippe Coutinho before they signed the Brazilian a year ago, but do not now plan any move.

Burnley could move for West Brom's Matt Phillips this month.

Sean Dyche is looking for additions as he looks to keep the Clarets from the drop.

And the Mirror report that the Scotland international is one of them. Cardiff are also interested.

Valencia will make a move for West Ham United‘s Javier Hernandez in January, and believe the Mexican international wants to return to La Liga.

The Spanish club are eager to change their goal-shy attack due to the struggles of Kevin Gameiro and Michy Batshuayi, with the latter set to return to Chelsea after an unsatisfactory loan move.

Valencia’s financial situation means they would favour a similar temporary move for Hernandez, but that is seen as the main obstacle to any deal.

Watford have no interest in selling Abdoulaye Doucoure this month.

The in-form midfielder is catching the eye this season with Paris Saint-Germain particularly interested.

But the Evening Standard say the 26-year-old is staying put, for now at least.

Everton are reportedly monitoring Algeria international Yacine Brahimi, who is set to be out of contract at Porto at the end of the season.

The Daily Mirror reports that Everton sent a scout to watch the forward in action during his club's 3-1 victory over Nacional on Monday.
