Harry Kane created Premier League history as his goal gave Tottenham a 1-0 win over Wolves. The England captain headed home in the second half to score for the 185th time in the Premier League – the most a player has scored for one club.
It took him above Sergio Aguero to fourth in the all-time list of scorers and it was his 250th in all competitions for Spurs, with Jimmy Greaves’ record of 266 surely under threat this season.
His goal, which was also Tottenham’s 1,000th at home in the Premier League, earned Spurs the win which extends their unbeaten start to the season.
Kane and partner in crime Son Heung-min both hit the woodwork in a much-improved second-half display. Wolves will perhaps feel hard done by as they were the better team in the opening 45 minutes with new record signing Matheus Nunes missing their best opportunity in the first half. Defeat leaves Bruno Lage’s side with just one point from their opening three games as they begin the season slowly again.

23 min: Drinks break. This has felt very ‘early kick-off’ so far, with neither side quite finding their groove, like they’ve just woken up and they can’t quite coordinate just yet.
Emerson Royal is receiving some treatment but looks OK to continue.

21 min: Ait-Nouri fouls Emerson Royal with the Brazilian wingback going nowhere on the halfway line. Spurs take the free-kick quickly, work it left and then try to feed a ball over the top, but Perisic is offside. Everything is just a bit off for Spurs so far.

19 min: Half a chance for Wolves but Moutinho’s attempted pass to release Podence is just slightly overhit and Lloris rushes out to clear. That was a result of Spurs being a bit loose on the ball at the back – Conte’s half-time teamtalk is shaping up to be quite an angry one at this rate.

16 min: Kane pulls off a cheeky nutmeg on Collins who tugs back the striker’s shirt. Foul, but no yellow card from Simon Hooper, to the annoyance of the Spurs fans and Kane, too.

14 min: Royal and Kulusevksi combine neatly down the right side of the Wolves box but the Swede runs out of space and can only slide a weak cross into Sa’s hands.

12 min: Hojbjerg is booked for hauling down Guedes very deliberately as Wolves tried to launch a slick counter-attack. Probably a ‘good booking’, that, for Spurs, given the Wolves forward was about to charge through on goal. It’s only the fact he was on the halfway line that probably saved Hojbjerg from red.

10 min: I think Son tried to have a shot there, and it bobbles into the side netting weakly. It was either terrible execution or terrible decision-making, or both, and Antonio Conte doesn’t look particularly impressed with that.

8 min: Collins bundles over Son near the corner flag, unnecessarily so. Spurs will have a free-kick and Son will deliver it...

6 min: After Wolves’ bright start it is Spurs who are getting on the ball now and probing a little. When Wolves do have the ball the new man Nunes looks really bright, dribbling well across the pitch – though as I type, he takes a clattering from Ben Davies. Put that in the ‘Welcome to the Premier League’ category of challenge.
