From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. West Ham have a tough task this afternoon as they look to secure their Premier League future against champions Manchester City.

The Hammers currently sit 15th, six points clear of the relegation zone but could all-but secure their future with a victory, but it could admittedly be difficult against Guardiola’s men.

Elsewhere, the recently-crowned champions will be highly-motivated to earn maximum points as their quest to break the Premier League points record edges closer to completion.

What time is it?

The game kicks off at 2:15pm on Sunday.

Where can I see it?

The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League.

It’s a big game for…

David Moyes. If the Hammers do earn the win, it would mean quite the impact at the London Stadium by the Scot. A victory could pretty much mean survival.

Having said that, a loss could potentially put the Hammers back in a perilous position. The Londoners could potentially be only three points clear of the drop zone by the end of play at the weekend. Whilst their future would still be in their own hands, it would make for an uncomfortable last few weeks of the season.

The best stat…

Manchester City have won their last two away games against West Ham United by an aggregate scoreline of 9-0.

The Citizens won 4-0 in their first trip to London Stadium in 2017. They netted five in their last visit to the Boleyn Ground.

Remember when…

Jack Collison earned West Ham a tight 1-0 victory over City at the Boleyn Ground back in 2009.

Player to watch…

Raheem Sterling. Slightly unfortunate to have missed out on the PFA Young Player of the Year Award, Sterling has been brilliant all season long. He has notched a career-best haul of 23 goals in all competitions and has been one of the catalysts behind Manchester City’s procession to the title.

He has been involved in six goals in his last five Premier League games with three strikes of his own and three assists. The winger also had a hand in five goals in three appearances against West Ham last season.

Form guide…

Guard of honour

As 'I'm forever blowing bubbles' rings around the London Stadium, West Ham give the Champions a guard of honour as Fernandinho leads Manchester City onto the pitch.

We're off!

1: West Ham get us underway!

Jack Watson29 April 2018 14:16

3: As expected Manchester City have had the larger share of the ball in the opening minutes and West Ham are flirting with the idea of pressing high up the pitch. The crucial thing to see is whether West Ham's first pass after winning back the ball can break City's press.

10: City work their first opening and get the ball wide to Kyle Walker who squares a first time ball across goal but nobody in sky blue can get a touch on it.

West Ham 0-1 Manchester City

Leroy Sane

The ball is worked along the edge of the box and Sane gets the ball under control and fires a left footed shot at goal from the right corner of the area. His effort deflects off Patrice Evra and leaves Adrian helpless as the ball trundles into the net.

There was barely a ripple of applause as that one went in but it's goal number 99 for Manchester City, who are getting closer to their 100th Premier League goal.

15: West Ham respond

Straight away West Ham almost hit back. Manuel Lanzini receives a one-two from Marko Arnautovic then rolls the ball across goal. Waiting at the back post is Aaron Cresswell but Ederson gets across and collects.

20: Sterling goes close

Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling combine to give the English winger space in the box to shoot. On the half-turn, Sterling swivels and drags a left footed shot wide. "It should be 24 (goals)," says Gary Neville on Sky Sports.

Adrian is seen here with the sort of 'I should have saved that' look, but there was very little he could do about Leroy Sane's shot which deflected off Patrice Evra and into the net.

West Ham 0-2 Manchester City

Declan Rice (own goal)

What a disaster at the back!

City launch a long ball forward which Adrian rushes out of his box to deal with but leaves himself very exposed. Raheem Sterling's shot at an open goal is blocked and then Ilkay Gundogan manages to move the ball onto Kevin De Bruyne on the right. The Belgian flashes a ball across the face of goal and Adrian touches onto Declan Rice who clears it against Pablo Zabaleta and the ball ends up in the back of the net.

City score their 100th Premier League goal in the most bizarre of circumstances which Gary Neville neatly sums up on Sky Sports, "it's madness, it's mayhem, they're everywhere!"
