Mauricio Pochettino proud of his side after Spurs' win over Newcastle

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to keep pace with Premier League leaders Liverpool as Mauricio Pochettino’s side look for a fourth consecutive win of the season when they travel to Watford .

Spurs can join the Reds and Chelsea at the top of the table, but they face a Watford side that also boasts a 100 per cent record this season with three wins from three. But Spurs will be looking to take momentum from their victory over Manchester United last Monday night, and with Harry Kane and Lucas Moura both in-form, a testing day looks on the cards for the Hornets.

Watford manager Javi Gracia has a near-full-strength side to choose from, but Spurs are without injured goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris as well as midfielder Moussa Sissoko, while Son Heung-min remains on international duty. Erik Lamela is also a doubt as he faces a late fitness test at Vicarage Road.

What time does it start?

Watford vs Tottenham kicks off at 4.00pm.

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event from 3.30pm.

Is he going to net his first hat-trick then?

You wouldn't put it past him given United's first half performance.

KICK OFF at Vicarage Road in the second half...

Long ranger from Christian Eriksen but it's a really easy one for Ben Foster to gather.

Early tester, mind you.

50 mins: Another long ranger from Eriksen and another easy take for Foster.

Will we get a third time lucky in the next few minutes?

Capoue goes into the book for pulling down Vertonghen while Spurs were on the break.

Eriksen was annoyed the referee didn't allow the quick free kick.

WATFORD 0-1 TOTTENHAM (Lucas, 53)

A really very awful goal if you're looking in from a Watford perspective.

Lucas crosses in and the ball rebounds off Doucoure and slowly bounces in.

It was a really cruel goal to watch and is just one of those things that happen. Spurs joining Chelsea and Liverpool on maximum points as things stand.

The United game has opened up much more with both sides threatening more but if the Reds strike again, you'd have to think it was game over from a Burnley perspective.

Nathan Jacobs2 September 2018 17:14

Manchester United are under no pressure and are just passing the ball around the back at the moment.

Nathan Jacobs2 September 2018 17:16

57 mins: Holebas hits his free kick into the wall and Spurs clear any possible danger.

Half an hour to go.

Nathan Jacobs2 September 2018 17:17

Clash of heads here at Vicarage Road as Lucas Moura and Kabasele challenge in the air and neither gets off any better.

Couple minutes stoppage here.
