From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Half-time - Spurs 1-0 Everton
Craig Pawson brings the opening period to a close and the hosts lead at the break through Son Heung-min's 26th-minute goal.
GOAL! Spurs 2-0 Everton (Kane)
47' - Son Heung-min produces a wonderful turn to skip away from Jonjoe Kenny before driving towards goal and producing a drilled low cross, which Harry Kane turns in.
That wasn't dissimilar to the goal scored by Son in the first half.
52' - Dele Alli gets in behind the Spurs defence and is neatly found by Son Heung-min. However, with only the goalkeeper to beat, Alli puts his left-footed finish into the side-netting.
55' - Idrissa Gueye concedes possession in the centre circle and that allows Harry Kane to drive towards the Everton goal and get a shot away from 25 yards. Everton stopper Jordan Pickford is equal to it though and parries the ball away.
57' - Everton boss Sam Allardyce makes the first substitution of the match as Yannick Bolasie is replaced by Aaron Lennon, who is given a wonderful reception by the home fans.
The winger spent 10 years at White Hart Lane between 2005 and 2015.
