From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

For those just tuning in, the result of the early kick-off: Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham. Not the most thrilling game, but the Red Devils returned to winning ways thanks to Anthony Martial's late strike at Old Trafford.

A slight bit of pressure on Manchester City, then, ahead of their game against West Brom? Perhaps, but you shouldn't imagine Pep Guardiola will be too concerned given his side's recent form. The result at Old Trafford is probably just as relevant for Chelsea and Arsenal, both of whom have the chance to make up some ground on Spurs in the hours ahead.

Full disclosure: I have no fewer than NINE players in my fantasy football side appearing in these 3pm kick-offs. So if goal descriptions spill over into hysteria, you can probably assume that the scorer is one of my boys. Pathetic, I know, but you had the right to know.

Oh, Dejan. You poor, poor soul.
