Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

With the international break just around the corner, this weekend is an opportunity for clubs to pick up three points before another two weeks off from the Premier League.

For the 3.00pm games, Huddersfield and West Brom go head to head at the John Smith Stadium while Newcastle host Bournemouth. Burnley also travel to Southampton and Swansea welcome Brighton to the Liberty Stadium.

West Ham and Liverpool round off today’s proceedings with their 5.30pm meeting at the London Stadium. It’s a must-win match for both sides, with Jurgen Klopp and Slaven Bilic both under pressure to turn things around at their respective clubs.

81' - Mo Salah has a chance for his hat-trick but his shaped effort from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's cutback is well saved by Joe Hart.

You get the feeling that there are more goals in this game for Liverpool if they want them.

84' - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain finds himself with the ball at his feet in the box after good work by James Milner down the left wing. The Reds midfielder shimmies past one defender before getting a shot away but his effort is blocked and West Ham manage to clear their lines.

87' - Mo Salah picks out James Milner in acres of space inside the West Ham half and it looks for all the world like he will score. He attempts to wrong-foot Joe Hart though and the ball goes just wide of the England goalkeeper's near post.

Moments later Roberto Firmino blazes a shot over the crossbar from inside the penalty area.

Full-time - West Ham 1-4 Liverpool

The final whistle goes and the Hammers have been hammered at home for the second league game in succession. Is this the last time we'll see Slaven Bilic in the West Ham dug-out?

Post-match reaction from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

On the difficulty of the match: "It was definitely not an easy game. It was very intense. It was crucial that we responded well after their goal. We had to defend really well and we knew that on the counter we are a big threat with the boys up front.

"In the end four goals was enough but we could have had even more."

On his adaptation to life at Liverpool: "We play a very intense game. That takes time to get used to but I feel like I'm getting there.

"I need to keep improving from where I am now. There's a lot more to come from me. I keep pushing myself to get the best out of myself and the team will do the same."
