Rafa Benitez takes on his former side Liverpool for the first time since guiding Newcastle back into the Premier League, and has the chance to leapfrog the Reds if they can pull off what would be a famous home victory at St James’ Park.
The Magpies have Aleksandar Mitrovic back from suspension, although the striker is unlikely to start with Joselu expected to remain in the side, while Florian Lejeune returns from the ankle injury he suffered on the opening weekend of the season.
Liverpool are still without long-term absentees Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana, but Sadio Mane returns from suspension and is almost certain to start. More importantly though, Jürgen Klopp will want to see his side record an important victory after a run of one win in their last six matches.

Newcastle vs Liverpool kicks off at St James’ Park at 16:30.

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event from 16:15. Highlights will be shown on BBC One from 22.30.
63 mins: Mohamed Salah picks the ball up from deep and lifts a ball for Daniel Sturridge to chase but Rob Elliot beats him to it.
68 mins: Still no sign of Roberto Firmino, I imagine Daniel Sturridge's minutes are numbered. Or could we see Dwight Gayle introduced? He does love a goal against Liverpool...
72 mins: Here come the reinforcements. Dominic Solanke and Roberto Firmino come on for Daniel Sturridge and Sadio Mane. Meanwhile Newcastle withdraw Mikel Merino and introduce Issac Hayden.
77 mins: Jonjo Shelvey does really well to clear Dejan Lovren's header off the line from a corner.
Here comes Dwight Gayle, he replaces Joselu.
82 mins: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin is preparing to come on, but where will he play? In goal, defence, midfield? It's anyone's guess.
Answer: Winger. He comes on for Mohamed Salah.
86 mins: It's all Liverpool at St James Park but the build up play is so very slow. Newcastle seem happy to see out the point.

Newcastle hang on and pick up a well earned point. For Liverpool this is another two points dropped.
Philippe Coutinho's stunning solo goal from outside the box set Liverpool on their way but Jurgen Klopp's side were the architects of their own downfall when Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip parted ways when Joselu was slipped in behind.
