Rafa Benitez takes on his former side Liverpool for the first time since guiding Newcastle back into the Premier League, and has the chance to leapfrog the Reds if they can pull off what would be a famous home victory at St James’ Park.
The Magpies have Aleksandar Mitrovic back from suspension, although the striker is unlikely to start with Joselu expected to remain in the side, while Florian Lejeune returns from the ankle injury he suffered on the opening weekend of the season.
Liverpool are still without long-term absentees Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana, but Sadio Mane returns from suspension and is almost certain to start. More importantly though, Jürgen Klopp will want to see his side record an important victory after a run of one win in their last six matches.

Newcastle vs Liverpool kicks off at St James’ Park at 16:30.

42 mins: Liverpool attempt to restore order by slowing down play and imposing themselves on Newcastle. Rafa Benitez's side look happy to get into half time with the scoreline as it is.
Half time
If you ever needed two goals to sum up Liverpool than this was it. Philippe Coutinho produced a moment of magic from outside the area to put the Reds ahead then comical defensive positioning allowed Jonjo Shelvey to slip Joselu through to score.
Liverpool's defending aside, going forward, Philippe Coutinho has been magnificent and his goal is well worth a watch.

45 mins: The second half begins. Liverpool were sent out very early, I suspect there was a big telling off from Jurgen Klopp.

55 mins: Mikel Merino bundles Mohamed Salah on the edge of the box. Ayoze Perez goes into the book for kicking away the ball.
The free kick from 30 yards is hit by Philippe Coutinho but only into the wall.
57 mins: Joe Gomez is shown a yellow card for a high, WWE-style take-down on Christian Atsu. The resulting free kick from deep is crossed beyond anyone an goes out for a goal kick.
60 mins: Liverpool appear to have a defensive situation under control then their natural habits kick in and Albero Moreno mistimes a challenge. Newcastle work a series of crosses into the box and Matt Ritchie's knock on fails to find a teammate in front of goal.
