It’s a big game for…
Anthony Martial. Likely to start in place of Marcus Rashford, the young Frenchman could do with one of his more convincing showings. Although his start to the season has been far from disastrous – with a return of nine goals and assists from all competitions – his inconsistency has frustrated Mourinho, who may soon be tempted to look at other starting options after Jesse Lingard’s match-winning brace in midweek.

42 min: United fail to clear a Tottenham corner, with the ball eventually falling favourably to Dier. He's got a man on him but still manages to turn his body well to meet the ball with a hooked volleyed shot. De Gea reaches to his right and plucks the effort right out of the air. No goal.
44 min: Young gets doubled up on by Alli and Aurier but holds his ground well to draw the foul. He's had an impressive half so far, especially on the back foot.
HALF TIME: Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham
A nervy but well-contested first half that has seen very few clear-cut chances. United started better but Tottenham were quick to settle into the game as they set about dominating possession and pushing forward into their opponent's final third. The likes of Dier and Sissoko have kept De Gea busy while Rashford has injected the hosts with some much-needed urgency and dynamism. In all, though, it's Pochettino who will be happier with the opening 45 minutes.
47 min: United free-kick after Valencia rushes to meet a through ball down the right flank but finds his way blocked by Davies. It's pumped in but overshoots the Tottenham box and rolls out for a throw-in.
50 min: Neither side has yet to stamp their authority on the game in this second half. The ball is being pinged back and forth with no real purpose, and with few concrete chances in sight. This is the Premier League at its best: an over-hyped 'big-league game' that fails to match expectation.
