From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. What time does it start?

Manchester United vs Tottenham kicks off at 12:30

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Football from 11:30. Highlights will be shown at 22:30 on BBC One.

It’s a big game for…

Anthony Martial. Likely to start in place of Marcus Rashford, the young Frenchman could do with one of his more convincing showings. Although his start to the season has been far from disastrous – with a return of nine goals and assists from all competitions – his inconsistency has frustrated Mourinho, who may soon be tempted to look at other starting options after Jesse Lingard’s match-winning brace in midweek.

Best stat…

Four. Mauricio Pochettino has lost more Premier League matches to Jose Mourinho than he has against any other manager in the competition.

Remember when…

Roy Carroll and a slippery ball when these sides met in this fixture in the 2004-5 season: United would love some similar luck on Saturday.

Player to watch…

Son Heung-min. The South Korean has been pushing hard for a starting place with a run of elegant form in recent weeks. Especially with the absence of Kane, his pace and inventiveness will be crucial if Spurs are to come away from Old Trafford with points.

Past three meetings…

Tottenham 2 (Wanyama, Kane) Manchester United 1 (Rooney), Premier League, 14 May 2017

Manchester United 1 (Mkhitaryan) Tottenham 0, Premier League, 11 December 2016

Tottenham 3 (Alli, Alderweireld, Lamela) Manchester United 0, Premier League, 10 April 2016

Form guide…

Tottenham: WWWDWL

Odds…

Manchester United: 6/5

Tottenham: 28/11

Draw: 23/10

20 min: A huge pocket of space opens up outside United's box which Sissoko happily surges forward into. He tries his luck with a low-driven shot but causes De Gea few problems as it bobbles along the deck.

21 min: Tottenham have settled into the game after a nervous start and are rewarded with their efforts for a corner on the right. Nothing comes off it, though, and United's backline nod the ball clear.

Samuel Lovett28 October 2017 12:54

25 min: Donkey alert, pt 2: Vertonghen plays the ball back to Lloris for a simple clearance but the Frenchman makes a right meal of it and hacks it straight into the stands.

Samuel Lovett28 October 2017 12:57

28 min: Oh, potential banana slip moment for United. A testing ball is whipped in from the left flank which De Gea comes to collect. As he lands, he collides with Jones and spills the ball into the feet of Sissoko 10-odd yards out. He lines up for the shot but sends his effort soaring into the crowd behind.

30 min: Here we go, a bit of action - though not of the football-playing kind. Young and Alli come together, giving it the big one. The United man is definitely looking to bait the young midfielder but Alli doesn't bite. Things get a bit heated, players step in, etc, etc. No cards or head-butts for that matter though. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

Samuel Lovett28 October 2017 13:03

34 min: Aurier rushes to meet a well-threaded through ball into the United box but Young is on hand step inside the Spurs player and intercept the pass with a sliding challenge.

37 min: A real good chance for Alli who breaks into the United box and is confronted by Bailly. He shifts the ball back and forth and, instead of playing the inside pass, tries to curl a shot into the far bottom-right corner. It's a tame effort, though, and De Gea gets down easily to make the save.

Samuel Lovett28 October 2017 13:11

40 min: Into the final five minutes and Rashford gives Old Trafford something to cheer about as he successfully chases down and pressurises the Tottenham defence to reclaim possession. Nothing comes of it but it's the sort of passion and desire Mourinho's men need to show to win this.
