From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. It’s a big game for…
Jose Mourinho. Judas may indeed still be No.1 but the Special One needs a big result here today with not only a Champions League spot to play for but also bragging rights after watching Antonio Conte sweep all before him with a squad that he himself failed so spectacularly with just a year ago.
Remember when...
Player to watch…
Eden Hazard. Kicked from pillar to post in the FA Cup tie only a matter of weeks ago Chelsea's star man will once again be out to exact a measure of revenge on his old boss and keep the Blues on course for the title.
Form guide…
Manchester United: DWDDW
Chelsea: WWLWW
56 min: Paul Pogba has made 47 passes so far. A rounded and mature performance from him.
60 min: Azpilicueta fires one in from the left in search of Pedro near the right-hand side post who lunges in desperation to make a connection. He can't get a full boot to the ball though and ends up crumbling to the floor in a heap. United goal kick.
61 min: Rashford with a chance! He picks up play on the edge of the Chelsea box, turns to face the goal and lets loose with an absolute firecracker of a shot. It zips into the side-netting but could have been United's third had it been a few inches to the left.
65 min: Chelsea corner from the right following Pedro's deflected shot on goal. It lands heavily in the centre of the box which Costa scrambles to meet but Valencia effectively throws his whole body onto the ball to deny the Spaniard a shot on goal. It's quickly cleared and the danger passes.
69 min: Rashford has been tremendous so far but it's his power on the ball which has been perhaps the most impressive aspect of his game today. Having stormed into the Chelsea box, the youngster held off challenges from both Cahill and David Luiz before spinning away to take a shot on goal. Begovic got down low to his right to deny the player but, at this rate, it won't be long before the home side add their third.
73 min: Herrera catches Hazard on the ankles to send the player tumbling to the deck. A yellow card follows. No surprises there.
77 min: Chelsea corner from the left. It's swung in, bounces straight back out, and it's Fabregas who pounces with a wild volleyed effort. The home side breaks into mocking applause as the ball sails into the crowd.
81 min - substitution: Rashford leaves to a standing ovation as Ibrahimovic makes his way on to the pitch. What a performance from the youngster. The catalyst to United's game.
Loftus-Cheek replaces Zouma.
85 min: United free-kick on the half way line. It's pumped long and falls to Ibrahimovic inside the Chelsea box who nods it across the goal to Lingard. The youngster brings it down with his chest but Cahill steps in to stop him getting a shot off.
