From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…
Jose Mourinho. Judas may indeed still be No.1 but the Special One needs a big result here today with not only a Champions League spot to play for but also bragging rights after watching Antonio Conte sweep all before him with a squad that he himself failed so spectacularly with just a year ago.
Remember when...
Player to watch…
Eden Hazard. Kicked from pillar to post in the FA Cup tie only a matter of weeks ago Chelsea's star man will once again be out to exact a measure of revenge on his old boss and keep the Blues on course for the title.
Form guide…
Manchester United: DWDDW
Chelsea: WWLWW
41 min: Lingard and Rashford link up neatly to release the latter into the Chelsea box. Moses storms in to disrupt the youngster but it's not enough and Rashford bounces off the challenge with the ball at his feet. He zips it across the mouth of the goal but his team-mates can't quite get to it before Chelsea eventually clear the danger.
45 min: Kante drives forward into United's final third and picks out Hazard on the edge of the box. The Belgian struggles to get the ball out from underneath his feet though and is quickly swarmed by the Old Trafford defence. Two minutes of extra time.
What a half it's been from Rashford so far. The youngster has shown what he's truly capable of and has brimmed with both confidence and energy. He's put his pace to devastating effect against a Chelsea backline that have not known what to do with him. Let's hope he follows this up with another impressive 45 minutes of football.
47 min: Victor Moses summing up Chelsea's afternoon so far as he falls guilty of a foul throw. Sloppy and haphazard.
48 min: Yellow card for Cahill after his late challenge on Fellaini. United free-kick.
GOAL! Manchester United 2-0 Chelsea (Ander Herrera, 48 min)
What a start to the second half! Just what the doctor ordered. Ashley Young worked the left-hand side byline before cutting the ball back to Lingard inside the Chelsea box. The United player was swarmed, with his shot on goal falling back to Herrera on the edge of the box who immediately let loose. His effort ended up taking a fortunate deflection and swerved past the outstretched Begovic to find the back of the net.
