Manchester City welcome Antonio Conte's Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium in what should be one of the stand-out fixtures of the season so far.
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The two sides are separated by a single point, with the Blues sitting pretty at the top of the league on 31 points and City a single point behind on 30.
Victory will hand either side a massive boost in their title campaigns as the two continue to set the pace for the rest of the league.
Pep Guardiola's men have the opportunity to overtake their London rivals, but to do so would require breaking down Chelsea's seemingly impenetrable defence.
Conte's defence has conceded just one goal in their last seven games as the side continues to thrive under the coach's new formation.
But with the home advantage, City will know that today is their opportunity to strike and stake their claim for that top spot.

A City corner goes short again and the dismal returned pass goes straight off for a Chelsea throw. They really need to be making more from their set pieces, as the attempted short corner has been the choice every time today.
48 MINS
Sane steams into the Chelsea half and sends the ball into the path of De Bruyne, but his low shot is saved by Courtois.
The turn of pace from Sane there shocked the Chelsea defence, leaving them with no time to react. Guardiola will want to see more of that.
51 MINS
Willian goes for goal from distance just after coming onto the pitch. It's a poor decision from him though, as he had a number of attacking options.
54 MINS
It's chaos for Chelsea at the back, with a defensive mistake from Cahill...again. A back pass to the defender finds the feet of Aguero, who skips past Courtois and fires a shot at goal. However, Cahill redeems himself by clearing the ball off the line.
That's incredibly sloppy from the visitors at the back.
57 MINS
City charge forward, but this time it's the woodwork that denies them from doubling their tally.
Silva leads the attack, with Aguero sending the ball into the box to De Bruyne, who hits the crossbar in front of an open goal from about four yards out. How has he missed that? It was harder to miss than it was to score. That miss could prove crucial for the home side.

GOAL
MAN CITY 1 - 1 CHELSEA
The combination of Fabregas and Costa finally breaks down the City defence, but it's great from Costa, who gets himself on the scoresheet. Fabregas delivers the ball up the field to the Spaniard, who proves too strong for Otamendi and then he slots it home past Bravo. That's his first Premier League goal against Man City.
It's all level.
62 MINS
Willian charges forward into the final third, carrying the momentum of the recent goal with him. Kolarov lunges into the tackle and wins his side possession. The Chelsea fans in the Etihad plead for a free-kick, but it's not given and that's the right decision.
Chelsea look reactivated from the equaliser.
65 MINS
City will be kicking themselves for not doubling their tally from the numerous occasions, prior to the Chelsea goal. They now have a task on their hands to react and regain the advantage.
De Bruyne pings a ball into the box, but Moses beats Aguero to possession and clears the danger.
