Manchester City welcome Antonio Conte's Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium in what should be one of the stand-out fixtures of the season so far.
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The two sides are separated by a single point, with the Blues sitting pretty at the top of the league on 31 points and City a single point behind on 30.
Victory will hand either side a massive boost in their title campaigns as the two continue to set the pace for the rest of the league.
Pep Guardiola's men have the opportunity to overtake their London rivals, but to do so would require breaking down Chelsea's seemingly impenetrable defence.
Conte's defence has conceded just one goal in their last seven games as the side continues to thrive under the coach's new formation.
But with the home advantage, City will know that today is their opportunity to strike and stake their claim for that top spot.

28 MINS
A Chelsea corner goes short and results in a goalmouth scramble, but the City side somehow manage to clear the danger and retain possession.
Chelsea need to keep pressuring the City defence when in possession and force them to make mistakes. City need to take advantage of the back three and use their pace going forward to cause the problems. Mind due, it's easy to say from my position - it does look tough out there.
32 MINS
City begin to charge forward, but Otamendi is beat to the ball by Kante. The home side are trying to move forward relentlessly, but so far their efforts are unrewarded.
35 MINS
Luiz has been a crucial figure so far at the back for Chelsea. His ability to read the game is keeping his side in it at times and his interceptions have broke down play on numerous occasions. He's protecting Courtois today, with only one strike from Aguero testing the Belgian keeper so far.
38 MINS
Aguero bombs into the Chelsea box, but once again, Luiz is there to save the day. He blocks the ball and it's a corner kick to City.
The Brazilian defender voices his frustration to the rest of his side, pleading that he needs more support at the back from his midfielders.
41 MINS
City are maintaining possession well at the moment and are controlling the momentum of the game. De Bruyne delivers the ball into the box, but Aguero fails to convert and heads the ball wide. It's close, but it's not enough yet to break the deadlock.

GOAL
MAN CITY 1 - 0 CHELSEA
City are charging forward with the attack led by Aguero, who finds Navas. The whipped ball into the box finds Cahill, who tries to clear it with his right foot but he sends the ball into his own net past a helpless Courtois.
They've conceded right on the brink of half-time, in the worst way possible.
HALF TIME
City enter the interval with a one-goal advantage, thanks to an own goal from Cahill. It was a tough first half for both sides, but the game is far from over. Chelsea have looked threatening going forward, but somewhat shaky at the back. Luiz has kept them in it with numerous displays of brave defending at the back, but will he be able to maintain Aguero for another 45 minutes? We'll see.
If the scores remains the same for the remainder, City will top the table.
