From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Two goals from Paul Pogba and a third from Anthony Martial were more than enough as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's unbeaten run was extended to 11 at Craven Cottage.

50 min: Fulham 0-2 Manchester United
A rather calmer start to the start of the second half than the explosive start we saw in the first 10 minutes of the first half.
The Cottage is unsurprisingly quiet except for the bunch of United fans who have made the trip.
53 min: Fulham 0-2 Manchester United
They've been causing Fulham problems all day down the left, and a smart ball from Pogba eventually finds itself to Martial, who looks menacing every time he enters the area.
He's crowded out by Rico on this occasion though.
54 min: Fulham 0-2 Manchester United
There is a change for Fulham now though, with the almost anonymous Andre Schurrle being replaced by Cyrus Christie, and let's say it hasn't gone down very well.
59 min: Fulham 0-2 Manchester United
Christie has brought slightly more fight into the Fulham side since his introduction, but there's such desperation from the home side that it is largely being wasted.
It is so comfortable for United that Pogba even has the space to make a surging run down the right-hand side.
Chelsea aren't the only west London club to have this problem it seems.
64 min: Fulham 0-2 Manchester United
It's just the two at the moment but it could so easily be three.
A ball in from Shaw sits up nicely for Herrera, who sees his powerful effort well parried away by Rico.
As Gary Neville says, it's a training game currently.
GOAL! Fulham 0-3 Manchester United (Pogba pen 65')
Juan Mata is clumsily brought down by Le Marchand from a United break, and Pogba makes no mistake from the spot despite Rico diving to the correct side.
Six changes today for United, but Solskjaer's risk has more than paid off.
