From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Chelsea were 2-1 winners at Craven Cottage in a game where all the goals came in the first half.

Gonzalo Higuain gave the visitors a 20th minute lead, which was cancelled out eight minutes later by Calum Chambers.

However, Jorginho’s 31st minute goal won it for the visitors – but there was late drama as Kepa Arrizabalaga saved an Aleksandar Mitrovic header, before Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon saw a late effort disallowed.

The win takes Maurizio Sarri’s side to within two points of the top four.

A win with their game in hand, against Brighton, will lift them above fourth placed Man United.

GOAL! Fulham 1-2 Chelsea (Jorginho 31')

His first goal since his debut, and there is an abundance of technical quality from the Italian there.

He receives Hazard's cut back as Chelsea break, and he resists the temptation to smash it and instead bends it beautifully into the net with Rico motionless.

CHANCE! Jorginho should have an assist alongside that goal.

He plays a delightful lofted ball to Higuain catches the ball-watching Fulham centre-backs out, but having taken it down beautifully the Argentine blazes over.

Non-stop at Craven Cottage at the moment.

Among Chelsea legends once again

Sheer joy.

Five minutes until the break and I've finally had some time to breath after what was a frantic five minutes or so.

Fulham looked the stronger after Chambers' goal but the quality the visitors possess means they are always a threat.

Parker's side by no means out of it though.

42 min: Fulham 1-2 Chelsea

Another chance to make it three for Chelsea, but this time it is Sergio Rico who is Chelsea's nemesis, doing well to get down to Hazard's low drive.

It's an open game that's for sure.

Happiness has been fleeting for Fulham so far this season, and so it is has proved again today so far.

ANOTHER SAVE!

Two minutes added on, and it's nearly a second for Higuain in what would have been a replica of his first, but Rico does well to save this time around.

Half Time: Fulham 1-2 Chelsea

Well what a first half that was from Craven Cottage.

Chelsea have been fluid for most of the half and it is no surprise that they go into the half leading thanks to goals from Higuain and Jorginho.

The only period Sarri's side struggled in was in the five minutes after Chambers had cancelled out the Argentine's opener, but the Blues recovered and could have had more through Higuain and Hazard, but Rico was equal to them.

Intriguing second half coming up.

↵If you didn't believe me when I raved about Jorginho's finish, here it is.
