Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manchester City have the chance to move an incredible 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table by the end of 2017 if they can beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to suffer defeat in the league this season and have pulled clear of both Manchester United and Chelsea, who yesterday moved into second place with a 5-0 win over Stoke City while United laboured to another draw, this time against Southampton.
City have also won their last 18 Premier League matches and can equal Guardiola’s all-time record of 19 league wins, set while he was with Bayern Munich, if they see off the Eagles. Roy Hodgson’s were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal last time out, and sit precariously above the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

We're just 10 minutes away from kick-off in south London. Will Manchester City continue their winning run or will Crystal Palace stun the runaway Premier League leaders? Stay tuned to find out!
2' - Unsurprisingly it's Manchester City who mount the first meaningful attack of the match.
Danilo's cross from the left wing is diverted into the path of Bernardo Silva, who takes a touch before scuffing a shot just wide of Wayne Hennessey's far post.
That was almost the dream start for the visitors.
6' - This is hardly a revelatory comment but Manchester City are so good without the ball. Every time they lose it they get it back so quickly.
Palace haven't had much of the ball so far but when they have had it they've been suffocated by City's pressing game and quickly dispossessed.
9' - What a chance! Ederson and Eliaquim Mangala are involved in a mighty mix-up following a long kick by Wayne Hennessey and the ball falls to Christian Benteke just inside the City penalty area.
With only Mangala blocking the goal, Benteke hits the ball straight at him and Palace have to settle for a corner. The big Belgian needed to show a little more composure there.
13' - Yohan Cabaye delivers a poor cross from a free-kick and Kevin De Bruyne heads the ball away - but it only goes as far as Patrick van Aanholt, whose well-struck, long-range volley is tipped around the post by Ederson.
Palace have started pretty well here.
17' - That's so poor from Christian Benteke.
The Palace striker concedes possession inside his own half when trying to nutmeg Kevin De Bruyne and the City midfielder charges towards goal. Scott Dann cynically brings him down on the edge of the box but injures his right knee in the process and needs to be stretchered off and replaced by Martin Kelly.
