From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Manchester City have the chance to move an incredible 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table by the end of 2017 if they can beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to suffer defeat in the league this season and have pulled clear of both Manchester United and Chelsea, who yesterday moved into second place with a 5-0 win over Stoke City while United laboured to another draw, this time against Southampton.
City have also won their last 18 Premier League matches and can equal Guardiola’s all-time record of 19 league wins, set while he was with Bayern Munich, if they see off the Eagles. Roy Hodgson’s were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal last time out, and sit precariously above the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

90+2' - Luka Milivojevic's spot-kick is saved by Ederson! That's a shocking effort and perhaps justice - the decision to award Palace a penalty did look a little soft.
90+6' - We did initially have four minutes of injury-time signalled but we'll certainly be having a lot more than that.
Jason Puncheon and Kevin De Bruyne are both currently being stretchered from the field after a very late challenge by the former on the latter.
Let's hope the injuries to both men aren't too serious.
Full-time - Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
Manchester City's Premier League winning streak is over but their chances of emulating Arsenal's Invincibles of 2004 are still alive after that late missed penalty by Crystal Palace's Luka Milivojevic.
Stay tuned for all the reaction to that enthralling match.
Post-match reaction from Wayne Hennessey and Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Hennessey on Luka Milivojevic's missed penalty: "We were unlucky. Luka's been fantastic for us at penalties but it's a fantastic save."
Hennessey on how Roy Hodgson has transformed Palace's fortunes: "He's come in and done a fantastic job, we all love him to bits here and hopefully he can stay a long time."
Fosu-Mensah on Palace's defensive performance: "It was good that we stayed compact and put pressure on the ball. We were aggressive and we gave them a good game.
"They have very good players. They are sharp and fast so I think as a defender you have to be concentrated for 90 minutes and I'm glad we did that today."

The moment Luka Milivojevic blew the chance to win the match for Palace in injury-time
Post-match reaction from Roy Hodgson
His view of the match: "I'm proud of our performance. We know how difficult it is to play a team of City's quality. I thought our organisation defensively was very good. There were chances sporadically during the course of the game so it's a very pleasing point.
"Before the game we would have been jumping through hoops at getting a point but when you miss an injury-time penalty there's always going to be an element of sadness."

Post-match reaction from Pep Guardiola
On giving Palace credit for their performance: "They are a good team. We knew that. The second half was a little bit better than the first one for us and in the end Ederson helped us to keep one point."
On the decision to award Palace a late penalty: "Maybe it was a penalty. I didn't see it really well but the referee made the decision so that's ok."
On the injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne: "He [Jesus] is injured. Maybe for one month or two months he will be out. With Kevin I don't know what will happen."
