From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Mohamed Salah struck his 14th league goal of the season from the penalty spot as the off-kilter Reds stretched their top-flight advantage over Manchester City back to seven points.
Liverpool failed to produce the kind of statement win to flex their title-challenge muscles following successive defeats to chief rivals City in the league, and Wolves in the FA Cup.
Klopp's men laboured throughout, unable to generate anything like their trademark attacking zeal - but despite that malaise, the visitors still had enough to take all three points.

Player to watch…
Roberto Firmino: The Brazilian hasn’t been scoring on a regular basis this season, but his form has picked up in recent weeks. The 27-year-old scored a hat-trick against Arsenal and scored the equaliser in vain against Manchester City. He was rested on Monday night, only coming on as a late substitute, so will be fresh for the visit to the Amex - a stadium he scored at twice in last season’s fixture, which the Reds won 5-1.

SECOND HALF
Brighton 0 - 0 Liverpool
We're back underway, Salah has moved into the centre and immediately gets a shot on target for Liverpool. A good change from a rather lacklustre first half.
Brighton 0 - 1 Liverpool - Salah
Salah twists and turns in the box and Groß pulls him down giving away a penalty. Salah takes it and scores edging it past Button in goal.
Burnley 2 - 1 Fulham
Burnley still on top at Turf Moor despite not having any shots on target. Fulham don't even look like scoring.
Cardiff 0 - 0 Huddersfield
Cardiff have started the second half a lot better than they finished the first but the match is still deadlocked.
Crystal Palace 1 - 0 Watford
Wifried Zaha has a one-on-one with Ben Foster to extend Palace's lead but his shot is straight at Foster. He gets another chance minutes later and sends his shot wide.
Leicester 0 - 2 Southampton
Southampton dropping back and defending more in this half, understandably as they've gone down to 10 men but Leicester have more of the possession now. Ndidi tries a through ball to Jamie Vardy but Vardy is caught offside.
Leicester 1 - 2 Southampton - Ndidi
Leicester are back in the game. Poor defending from Southampton allows Ndidi to trickle the ball past McCarthy as it comes off his thigh and goes into the net.
Brighton 0 - 1 Liverpool
Brighton have had one chance on goal and don't look like having another one anytime soon. Liverpool could win this with just their one goal advantage.
Leicester 1 - 2 Southampton
Lots of free kicks at the King Power stadium, lots of diving going on. Leicester have a penalty shout turned down as Stephens dips his foot towards Vardy as the striker comes into the box and Vardy goes down. The ref, rightly gives a free kick to Southampton for Vardy diving but doesn't pull out a card.
