Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Mohamed Salah struck his 14th league goal of the season from the penalty spot as the off-kilter Reds stretched their top-flight advantage over Manchester City back to seven points.
Liverpool failed to produce the kind of statement win to flex their title-challenge muscles following successive defeats to chief rivals City in the league, and Wolves in the FA Cup.
Klopp's men laboured throughout, unable to generate anything like their trademark attacking zeal - but despite that malaise, the visitors still had enough to take all three points.

Player to watch…
Roberto Firmino: The Brazilian hasn’t been scoring on a regular basis this season, but his form has picked up in recent weeks. The 27-year-old scored a hat-trick against Arsenal and scored the equaliser in vain against Manchester City. He was rested on Monday night, only coming on as a late substitute, so will be fresh for the visit to the Amex - a stadium he scored at twice in last season’s fixture, which the Reds won 5-1.

Odds…
Brighton to win: 9/1
Liverpool to win: 3/10
Cardiff 0 - 0 Huddersfield
Huddersfield put a ball into the box and Etheridge catches it. That's about the extent to which either side have attacked today. It's been a poor match.
Crystal Palace 1 - 2 Watford
Zaha has a shot saved by Foster, it was a great chance to equalise but Watford's keeper keeps them in front in the contest.
Some incredible results in the Premier League. Liverpool extend their lead at the top, Burnley claim a victory over Fulham. A dull affair brings a dull result between Cardiff and Huddersfield, 10-men Southampton hold on against Leicester and Watford come from behind to win at Crystal Palace.

Cardiff 0 - 0 Huddersfield
Crystal Palace 1 - 2 Watford
Leicester 1 - 2 Southampton
How does that affect the Premier League table?
Liverpool extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points over Manchester City who play on Monday.
Brighton stay in 13th, one place above Crystal Palace, whilst Watford move up to 7th.
Leicester drop to 8th as Burnley and Southampton move out of the relegation places into 15th/16th respectively.
