Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Burnley continued their good recent run with a comfortable win at Brighton.

Chris Wood scored twice before Ashley Barnes wrapped up all three points from the spot as the Clarets moved out of the bottom three.

So, the players emerge at the Amex.

Will Brighton put themselves further clear of the relegation zone or will Burnley get out of the it themselves.

And we are underway!

5 min: Brighton 0-0 Burnley

The hosts have started well and Burnley's Heaton has made two excellent saves from Davy Propper and Solly March.

7 min: Brighton 0-0 Burnley

The visitors are all over the place at the back when it comes to defending set pieces, and another one bounces around dangerously in the area with Locadia attempting to pounce.

8 min: Brighton 0-0 Burnley

That doesn't look good for either player. Gaetan Bong slides in on Phil Bardsley in the Brighton area.

Luckily there is no injury for either player.

13 min: Brighton 0-0 Burnley

Plenty of half chances at the Amex so far, the latest falling for the visitors, but Hendrick's drive after the hosts fail to clear a free-kick is well blocked by the Brighton defence.

The best on the bench

THE WOODWORK! TWICE!

Huge, huge chance for the visitors. McNeil's low ball across the box is deflected on to the bar by Duffy, before Wood heads the rebound off the same bit of woodwork.

Tough tackling and Phil Bardsley are almost synonympous things.
