From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

64: Southampton break forward and Sofiane Boufal finds Ryan Bertrand who has Charlie Austin waiting in the middle but can't find his with a cross which rolls out for a goal kick. That's a wasted opportunity.
Double substitution for Bournemouth. Jermain Defoe and Junior Stanislas are replaced by Jordan Ibe and Callum Wilson.
68: Virgil Van Dijk flicks on a header to Charlie Austin and he heads onto the bar but the assistant referee has his flag up for offside.
70: Southampton stroll through the Bournemouth defence with neat passing and work the ball to Sofiane Boufal who fires at goal and his effort is deflected over for a corner which Bournemouth clear.
73: Southampton introduce Mario Lemina to the action, he replaces Dusan Tadic.
74: Josh King works himself some space and fires a shot inside the area which is well saved by Fraser Forster who palms the ball to Callum Wilson who can't control the ball and it goes behind for a goal kick.
80: Bournemouth call for a penalty but get nothing. Callum Wilson drives inside the box and Nathan Redmond slides in to win the ball back.
81: At the other end of the pitch, Ryan Bertrand crosses to Charlie Austin who rises well and heads just wide. He should have made it 2-1.
